Trudno właściwie powiedzieć, czy Na-mi i Sun-woo się lubią. Gnębione przez szkolne koleżanki, dziewczyny trzymają się razem, w duecie nawigują przez szarą prowincjonalną codzienność. Kiedy plan wspólnego odebrania sobie życia nie wypala, postanawiają udać się do źródeł swojego cierpienia i dokonać zemsty. Prowodyrką prześladowań była Chae Rin i to ona będzie musiała zapłacić teraz za krzywdy. Tymczasem agresorka przeprowadziła się do Seulu, dołączyła do głęboko religijnej wspólnoty i wygląda na to, że znajduje się już po jasnej stronie mocy. Jednak coś w tej wspólnocie nie gra, o czym połączone misją, choć niedopasowane bohaterki dosyć szybko się przekonają.
Debiutująca Lim nie bierze jeńców, realizując ostrą i pełną zaskoczeń czarną komedię, będącą satyrą na współczesną Koreę. Film ma rebeliancki nerw i uderza w anarchistyczne tony, ale jego wymowa jest poważna. Dodajmy znakomite aktorki i otrzymamy kolejny dowód na potwierdzenie tezy, że niezależne kino koreańskie ma się znakomicie, zwłaszcza to realizowane przez reżyserki.
It's hard to say whether Na-mi and Sun-woo actually like each other. Bullied by their classmates, the girls stick together, navigating the dull everyday life of the province hand in hand. When their plans of a joint suicide come to naught, they decide to target the source of their suffering and get revenge. The leader of the persecutions, Chae Rin, will have to pay for all the pain she caused. In the meantime, however, the head bully moved to Seoul, joined a deeply religious community, and seems to have crossed over to the light side. But the two mission-oriented protagonists quickly realize that something about the community seems off.
Lim's directorial debut takes no prisoners – it is a sharp, surprisingly dark comedy, and a merciless satire on modern Korea. The film may rock a rebel nerve and strike some anarchist tones, but its message remains very serious. With some incredible acting added to the mix, the film becomes yet another proof that Korean independent cinema is doing extremely well, especially when directed by women.
