Movie Of The Week:
One Chance
In a quiet week for new cinema releases, the solitary English language film out this weekend is One Chance, which tells the true story of mobile salesman Paul Potts' rise to fame through the popular TV show Britain's Got Talent.
In an unorthodox move, the film's lead role is played by comedian James Corden. Far from a talented Opera singer, Corden's lip synching is there for all to see - but the comic has been credited with bringing a sizeable junk of charm to the movie.
Once Chance follows Potts from his childhood years through to his time working in the Carphone Warehouse and onto his eventual rise to stardom via reality tv. The performance scenes from Britain's Got Talent contain the actual recordings performed by Potts on the night, as lip synched by Corden, as well as the original footage of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.

Polish Cinema For Beginners - Revers
The popular Polish Cinema for Beginners project makes its much awaited return when the first of a series of classic Polish movies is screened at Kino Nowe Horyzonty next Thursday at 7pm.
The project features the screenings of top Polish films with English subtitles, each of which is accompanied by a lecture from a film expert presenting the theme and socio-historical context of each movie. Following each film the audience can then participate in a discussion to air their views or ask more questions. While obviously catering for fans of independent cinema, the project also aims to introduce Wroclaw's international community to the history of Polish cinema, and in turn aid the integration of foreigners to the country.
The first film to feature in the programme, Revers (The Reverse), will be screened at Kino Nowe Horyzonty on February 27th at 7pm. Directed by Borys Lankosz, the film tells the story of Sabina, a shy woman in her 30's who lacks a man in her life. Her mother knows it all too well, and will do almost anything to find her daughter a good husband. Successive admirers come and go, with Sabina appearing completely indifferent. That all soon changes however, when she comes across the charming Bronislaw. His presence subsequently sparks off a series of unexpected events that reveal the darker side of womens' nature.
