Movie Of The Week: The Counselor
This week's featured movie is Ridley Scott's The Counselor, starring Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem. .
The film, which has attracted mixed reviews so far, is based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy - the man who brought us his Pulitzer Prize-winning The Road and the renowned No Country for Old Men. The Couselors' plot revolves around the consequences of a major drug deal gone wrong, which frantically puts the life of a lawyer, played by Michael Fassbender, out of control.

Other Screenings
Also on screen this weekend is the highly rated Canadian movie Stories we tell. The film delves into the layers of myth, memory and mystique to dig up the truth held within a unique of a family of storytellers. For more, check out this review on rogerebert.com.
Another movie of interest this weekend comes in the shape of Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, a documentary that offers an intriguing insight into the Russian all girl punk band Pussy Riot and their controversial imprisonment. For more, see these reviews in the Guardian and the Independent.
Polish Films
Polish speakers can see the much admired Papusza, which offers a fascinating insight into the history of Roma in Poland, from this Friday (unfortunately without English subtitles). You can however, still catch the English subtitled screenings of Ida, which we previewed three weeks ago.
Last but by no means least - one Polish film released this weekend that requires no subtitling is the special screening of Warsaw Halla, a spellbinding 45 minute roller-blading film from Maciej Tomków. To learn more about Maciej's work, please read this exclusive Wroclaw Uncut interview.
