This Weekend At Kino Nowe Horyzonty

25 cze

Each week 'Wrocław Uncut' will be bringing you weekly previews of what's on at the cinema in English.

Movie Of The Week:

Dast-Neveshtehaa Nemisoosand

This week's featured movie is a foreign language release - Iran's Dast-Neveshtehaa Nemisoosand, which has had to make its cast anonymous to avoid the actors being punished by the Iranian government.

The film follows two Government agents, Morteza and Khosrow, who are given the task of finding a forbidden manuscript documenting the Iranian government's plan to murder 21 writers. To get to the bottom of the case, the pair stop at nothing and use any means necessary to extract the required information.

To get a greater insight into the film , read this review by Clio Barnard. Please be aware that there will only be Polish subtitles available for this film.

English Language Films:

The Love Punch

Starring Emma Thompson and Pierce Brosnan, The Love Punch is an outlandish comedy that doesn't aim to take things too seriously. The film's plot revolves around Kate and Richard, a divorced couple who are set to lose their retirement cash due to the actions of greedy corporate man who bought Richards company. When the pair find out their new owner is interested in purchasing a special diamond for his fiancee, they join forces with their neighbours and head to southern France to get their revenge by plotting a plan to steal the same jewel.

Foreign Language Films (Without English Subtitles):

Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann

This week's other featured foreign language release is the Swedish comedy Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann. The film grossed more than $20 million not long after opening in Sweden on Christmas Day of last year, and it is expected to do well in some European markets too. Based on the best selling book of the same name by Jonas Jonasson, this film will go down well with fans of European cinema and alternative comedy. From 11pm on Saturday through to Sunday morning, cinema goers can catch David Cronenberg's Naked lunch, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining and David Fincher's Zodiac.
