Two friends want to start their own business but can’t find the money to do so. They soon become the victims of a blackmailer who demands payment for an imaginary debt. The film, portraying the dark side of Poland’s political transformation and the beginnings of capitalism in the 90s, won a Golden Lion at the Gdynia Film Festival.

Contributes to Polish monthly magazine "Kino", cultural websites "Dwutygodnik.com", "Filmweb.pl" and "Fandor". Recipient of 2nd award in Krzyszotof Mętrak Award, nominated for Polish Film Institute Award in "Film Criticism" category. Admirer of Jean-Luc Godard, Joel & Ethan Coen, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Stewart. A big fan of Manchester United and English football.
Reżyser filmowy, syn aktorki Krystyny Karkowskiej, urodzony w 1953 roku. W latach 1978–1983 związany ze Studiem Małych Form Filmowych „Se-Ma-For”, a następnie ze Studiem Filmowym im. Karola Irzykowskiego, w którym był członkiem Rady Artystycznej. Z kolei w latach 1985–1991 należał do Zespołu Filmowego „Tor”. W sezonie 1979/1980 był członkiem Rady Programowej telewizyjnego Studia Debiutów im. Andrzeja Munka. Od 1976 roku członek Stowarzyszenia Filmowców Polskich, gdzie był członkiem Zarządu Głównego. Od roku 2008 przewodniczący Rady Polskiego Instytutu Sztuki Filmowej. Od 2001 roku członek Europejskiej Akademii Filmowej.
