This Weekend At Kino Nowe Horyzonty

10 wrz

Each week 'Wrocław Uncut' will be bringing you weekly previews of what's on at the cinema in English.

Movie Of The Week:

Before I Go To Sleep

This week's featured movie is Before I Go To Sleep, a thriller that Nicole Kidman is no doubt hoping will draw more positive headlines than her recent role in the disastrous Grace of Monaco.

Here Kidman plays the role of Christine, a middle-aged lady who everynight forgets all that's happened in her life since her mid twenties. The job of reminding her day by day is placed in the hands of her patient husband, who is played brilliantly by Colin Firth. Things then get heated when Christine receives a call from a mysterious man who claims she was subject to a vicious attack, forcing her into making a big decision about who she should trust.

English Language Films:

Wish I was here

Another English language release out this weekend is I Wish I Was Here, directed by mumblecore king Zach Braff.

The movie's focal point is Aidan Bloom, a 35-year-old wanna be actor who is struggling to earn enough money for his family. Aidan's failure to realize his dream places even more stress on his wife, who has to tolerate sexual harassment in her job just to bring in the cash the family so dearly need. When the situation comes to a head, Aidan is pushed intomaking some massive choices about his career and family.

The film has been adopted from Stefan Zweig's novel "Journey into the Past" and stars Rebecca Hall, Alan Rickman, Richard Madden and Maggie Steed.

Leijonasydan

Leijonasydan is a Finish production that debuted at last year's Toronto film festival.

The movie centres around a Neo-Nazi by the name of Teppo, who falls for a woman whose son from a previous marriage is from an ethic minority. The relationship inevitably causes trouble between Teppo and his fellow Neo-Nazis, including his half-brother Harri.
