This Weekend At Kino Nowe Horyzonty

27 paź

Each week 'Wrocław Uncut' will be bringing you weekly previews of what's on at the cinema in English.

Movie Of The Week:

20,000 Days on Earth

This week's featured movie is 20,000 Days On Earth, a quirky but well recieved fictional rockumentary in which alternative rock icon Nick Cave pretty much plays himself.

The film interplexes between drama and interviews, following a fictional behind the scenes account of what went on during the recording of Cave's 2013 album 'Push the Sky Away'.

Fans of the man himself are bound to be fixated, while glowing reviews from the likes of Mark Kermode indicate that the movie is also likely to strike a cord with a wider audience.

English Language Films

Jimmy's Hall

Jimmy's Hall is said to be the last full production film to come from the widely respected director Ken Loach.

The movie is based on the true story of Jimmy Gralton, an Irishman who was deported from his country for building a community hall for live concerts and educational classes, which were deemed inappropriate by the domineering catholic priests.

For more information, see Peter Bradshaw's review in The Guardian.

Foreign Language Films (without English subtitles):

Il Capitale Umano

Il Capitale Umano is a Italian production based on a popular American novel written by Stephen Amidon.

The story alignes itself to the destinies of two families who become irrevocably tied together when a cyclist is run over by a jeep the night before Christmas Eve.

To learn more about the film, head to the Hollywood Reporter website to read this review by Deborah Young.
