This Weekend At Kino Nowe Horyzonty

27 sie

Each week 'Wrocław Uncut' will be bringing you weekly previews of what's on at the cinema in English.

Movie Of The Week:

Boyhood

This week's featured movie is Boyhood, a truly unique piece of cinema that has been recorded over a quite incredible 12 years. The film has been received with open arms not only by critics, but also the general public, who have given Richard Linklater's work a score of 99% on the popular rating website Rotten Tomatoes.

The film tells a fictional story featuring a group of actors who recorded their parts in time with their ageing bodies over a 12 year period. The children inevitably grow up to become teenagers and young adults, encountering the many challenges life throws at them on the way. The same is of course true of the adults, who face their own problems as they grow older.

Hotell

Hotell is a Swedish drama film written and directed by Lisa Langseth, which was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.

The magnitude of the situation places her into a spiral of depression, for which she starts attending group therapy. There she encounters a small group of people who also have to overcome serious issues, and together they decide to start over by going to where they believe they'll enjoy anonymity - hotel rooms.
