Spotkanie będzie poświęcone współpracy reżysera z producentem przy ich ostatniej produkcji Intruz, która miała światową premierę w ramach sekcji Quinzaine des Réalisateurs w Cannes i pierwsze polskie pokazy podczas 15. MFF T-Mobile Nowe Horyzonty. Spotkanie z twórcami w języku angielskim.

Kiedy John wraca do rodzinnej miejscowości po odbyciu dwuletniej kary więzienia, ma nadzieję zacząć wszystko od nowa. Niestety mieszkańcy miasteczka i koledzy ze szkoły nie zamierzają dać mu takiej szansy. O powodach, dla których nastolatek trafił za kraty, nikt nie zapomniał. Nikt mu też nie wybaczył. Może poza ojcem, który stara się umożliwić chłopakowi normalne życie. Jest w tym jednak nieudolny, zbyt chłodny. John zmaga się z poczuciem winy i odrzuceniem. Nie mogąc stać się zwyczajnym, postanawia w otwarty sposób skonfrontować się z bagażem przeszłości. Fabularny debiut wychowanka łódzkiej Filmówki świetnie buduje napięcie, a swoją siłę czerpie z powściągliwości. Utrzymane w chłodnej tonacji zdjęcia Łukasza Żala (Ida) podkreślają narastającą atmosferę wyobcowania. W swoim pełnometrażowym debiucie Magnus von Horn rozwija autorskie intuicje i styl, który sygnalizował wcześniej w nagradzanych krótkich metrażach.Intruza słusznie docenili programerzy z Cannes - film walczył w tym roku o Złotą Kamerę.

Join us on August 27th (Thursday) at 7.30 pm at New Horizons Cinema to watch one of the best recent example of fresh and exciting European coproduction - The Here After. After the screening we invite you to take part in Q&A with director Magnus von Horn and producer Mariusz Włodarski. The meeting will be moderated in English.
The Here After - Warsaw-based Swedish auteur Magnus von Horn's feature debut, backed by Lars Von Trier's Zentropa company and produced up Poland's most accomplished young producer Mariusz Włodarski with cinematography by Łukasz Żal, Polish Oscar-winner for Ida. Premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year, The Here After just recently won best director award at European Film Festival Palić.

When John returns to his hometown after serving a two-year prison sentence, he hopes to start over. Unfortunately, neither the locals nor his friends from school have any intention of letting him do that. No one has forgotten why the teenager ended up behind bars, and no one has forgiven him either. Perhaps with the exception of his father, who is trying to help the boy live a normal life. He is somewhat ineffective when it comes to this, however, not to mention cold toward his son. John struggles with feelings of guilt and rejection. He fluctuates between periods of extreme excitement and emotional sterility. Unable to return to normalcy, he decides to openly confront his past. This feature debut by a graduate of the Łódź Film School builds tension beautifully, while its strength is in its restraint. The cool tones of Łukasz Żal's (Ida) cinematography emphasize the dense atmosphere of the plot and the growing sense of alienation. In his full-length feature debut, von Horn develops his intuition and the original style that he could be seen earlier in his award-winning short films. Those responsible for making the program at Cannes were right for including The Here After, as it was in the running for the Golden Camera this year.
